Hugh Ryan studied Architecture in Dublin in the early 70’s before progressing to Garden Design and establishing his own practice, Hugh Ryan Landscape Design in 1977 where he specialises in the design and construction of private gardens. Many of his designs have received recognition both at home and overseas and have been published extensively.
As a former member of both the GLDA and the SGD, Hugh served on the councils of both organisations, and for a time was Chairman of the GLDA.
He established SLANT in 2011 with the aim of supporting and showcasing new design through the medium of international and open design competitions.

Janine Pattison MBALI MSGD leads a practice of passionate landscape and garden designers based in Dorset, UK. The practice is emerging as a leading exponent of contemporary, urban gardens often on challenging sites due to access, levels or coastal exposure problems. The creative and innovative use of materials, lighting and plants has won the practice considerable exposure in the media and has resulted in three BALI National Design Excellence Awards.Janine enjoys sharing her passion for gardens, plants and landscape design and regularly speaks at gardening and horticulture societies' meetings as well as industry events like Futurescapes. She writes a monthly column for ProLandscaper Magazine. She sits on the Board of The British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) as Design Director.

Jonathan Gibb ANZIA RAIA is a New Zealand and Australian registered Architect and avid landscape designer. Growing up in Christchurch Jonathan would frequent the mountains and valleys of Arthurs Pass and the West Coast, learning an appreciation for a landscape to be admired for its demanding respect and sheer beauty. An Associate of Context Architects in Aotearoa, Auckland New Zealand, he works from Master-Planning , high-rise commercial and residential towers to stand alone bespoke houses. His design reference is pertinence to site, context and social response. As well as practicing he has also lectured and has been widely published in magazines and books, with many international and local awards for both Architecture and art. Jonathan is also one of the most successful entrants for times entered and short-listed, and winning the Slant third competition in 2011.
